The Cruise Guide Training Online course was created by Progress International Tourism & Business Services Ltd, a leading training company within the cruise ship industry and accredited by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA).
The course details a set of internationally recognised good practices for guiding within the cruise industry and has been approved by a number of leading cruise lines. More specifically, the principal objectives of the project are as follows:
- To give global access to the Cruise Guide Training resources to all WFTGA members.
- To empower tourist guides within the cruise ship industry and give them a collective voice.
- To collaborate and optimise synergy with cruise lines and tour operators within the industry.
- To eradicate the use of unqualified tourist guides within the cruise ship industry.
- To support the promotion by tourist guides of the host cruise destination in their role of tourist ambassadors.
In order to participate in the course all tourist guides must be affiliated with the WFTGA. Each participant will need to pass a test in each Module and upon completion of the course a certificate will be awarded.
